About our name

Our name, One Thousand & One, comes from 1001 Arabian Nights.   1001 Arabian nights tells the story of a King who would take a new bride everyday.  Believing that all women would eventually be unfaithful, he would have her killed the day after their wedding night (nice guy).  The servant charged with finding a new bride every day had a tough gig, but if he did not find a bride, he himself would be killed.  The servant’s daughter Scheherazde, volunteered to be the King’s next bride and to end this situation once and for all.

On her wedding night Scheherazade told theKing a wonderful story and stopped with a cliff hanger ending.  The King  intrigued to hear what happened next let his bride live for another night to continue the story.  This went on for 1001 nights and in that time the King had fallen in love with Scheherazade and let her live.

This just goes to show that storytelling, done right, can well and truly save your life.
