In 2004, we discovered the field of organisational storytelling which was emerging out of the USA from the work of Steve Denning. Organisational storytelling (sometimes called Business storytelling) is storytelling with a business purpose and for business results.
With our respective corporate backgrounds, we immediately saw business applications and embarked on months of research. Time after time, business leaders we spoke to said ‘I knew there was a better way to communicate and engage but was not sure what it was’.
So in 2005 we started One Thousand & One (and funnily enough there is a story behind the name) to work with leaders on constructing and delivering authentic business stories to help them address their day to day leadership challenges. Whatever it is you are trying to do in business we believe storytelling can help you do it better – in fact we guarantee it.
We have experienced first-hand the day-to-day frustrations of leadership and managing change and our only regret is not discovering the power of business storytelling sooner.
